As I made excellent progress yesterday, I take it a bit slower today. Also, there’s less winds and the terrain is more rolling hills than flat sections. The orchards and closed fruit farms are giving way to corn fields and olive groves.

In Niebla, I take a long lunch break and check out the old fortress city center with its huge imposing red walls.

Afterwards I make good progress and around four o’clock I decide not to make it a short day but instead ride on to Sevilla. The gravel paths are fast and expedite my way into the city.

I just miss the big April fiesta and only see the aftermath. The city seems fairly quiet for a Sunday evening, but I notice why later on: there’s a football game taking place tonight and everyone’s at the stadium.

Sevilla is full of beautiful old buildings. The cathedral stands out, but so does the huge palace  around the Plaza de Espana. All too little for an evening or a day to explore and it definitely invites another visit on foot as I’m sure it has lots of secrets to discover.

I end my day on quite paths along the river after another 130 km on the bike.
