Day two on the Tour du Mont Blanc starts out bright and sunny.

On another hot day, I hike up the valley to La Foly, where I get some baguette and cheese and take a long lunch break. At two, I start hiking up the mountain towards the Petit Col Ferret, at 2500 elevation. Crossing the border to Italy, I scramble down the steep path until I reach the valley floor.

Here, I take another break in the sunshine next to the roaring riverbed of the Dora di Ferret. The path down the valley now is mostly on a gentle decline, and I hike onwards until just before Courmayeur.

After 35 km and 1700 m ascent, I set up camp in the shadow of Mont Blanc.
