The day starts windy with the Mistral blowing the clouds through the sky faster than they can start raining. Unfortunately it’s blowing from the side most of the time, especially hard to ride on the fast road downhills in the morning. The tiny roads are empty, except for a few sheep and cows.

As I go off-road for the last stretch into the mountains, the wind seems to pick up even more. It’s pretty cold up near the top and the view is cloudy most of the time. The cows don’t seem to mind, though. Neither do the seagulls that are abundant up here, 25 km from the sea.

On the long downhill over rough gravel, I get a slow flat tire in the rear and the Tubeless milk doesn’t want to close the hole properly. Maybe I’m too impatient, but I put in a tire, always a mess with a tubeless system. The way down is quick now and there’s finally steady sunshine in the pains before Cagliari.

I arrive in the city and quickly go out for ice cream, sightseeing and pizza. Sometimes a bit of civilisation is nice after all.
