The forecast 2-3 mm of rain in the morning turn into a hard downpour at 3 a.m.. Not a thunderstorm but hard rain that lasts into the morning and odes not stop. I decide that the next stage on the hard alpine trail won’t be any fun in the rain. Instead try to see if the weather is better in the valley. At best, I’m hoping to find dry weather, on the valley floor and then I can move up to where I intended to cross over anyway. However, it doesn’t stop raining all the way down and the forecast now predicts more rain over the coming days.

So I decide to break off and take the train home, cancelling my hut reservations on the way back. Still, it was a good experience overall and a hike I’m willing to go back to any time.
