FAR: Lone Sails by Swiss developers Okomotive is a peaceful, quiet journey through a mostly desolate landscape. Travelling on peculiar a sail-steamboat on wheels, the player glides over dried out seabeds, forgotten meadows and deserted shores. Some puzzling is required to overcome obstacles, but mostly, the journey is the reward.
The painted look and open spaces of the world, combined with a toned-down colour palette make this melancholy, but also very beautiful to look at. Basically, every screenshot you take is a beautiful painting.
Alternating light and dark scenes, subtly animated rain and clouds bring this game to life.
The interiors are shown by cutting off the side of buildings and machines, and reveal detailed inner workings.
