I break up early and start off to Taunuilt, where I’m aptly called a nutter by the local shop owner. 😉

I ride eastwards, along the shore of Loch Awe, where the Kilchurn castle ruins still have a commanding view over the lake.

The next stop is Inveraray, whose castle may be known to all fans of a certain German board game of the year.

A long uphill goes from Loch Long to a pass aptly called ‘Rest And Be Thankful’. Unfortunately, the wind is too strong to have a good rest, but the downhill is nice.

From Tarbet, I follow the West Loch Lomond Cycle Path down to Balloch, whose castle park is huge. The rest of the day I’m back on NCR 7, with some nice views over the Lowlands (which may be low, but are very hilly).

Overall a long day without much sunshine or rain.
