The second day starts overcast and remains cloudy all day, but no rain and 18° C is still great cycling weather.
Today I mostly follow the national cycling route #1. It is usually a bit longer, but the roads and cycling paths are quiet.
St. Andrews has a huge old church ruin and looks like a nice town overall.
Dundee is very industrial, with a big oil industry harbour. There are painted penguin statues all over the city and the towns going up north along the coast.
Sadly, the new Victoria & Albert Design Museum only opens September 15th. In the meantime I can only enjoy the marvellous architecture of the building from the outside.
Before I reach Stonehaven, I visit Dunmottar castle, threateningly looming over a steep cliff by the sea.
Just after Stonehaven I find a suitable campsite and end the day.
