The road up to the Port d’Envalira is always full, but today it seemed eben busier than usual. That’s despite the weather that did not quite invite for a stroll at 2400 m. It was cloudy and around 15° C most of the time. Good cycling weather with almost no wind.

The descent into Andorra was pleasant enough. Traffic isn’t as bothersome, if you’re going as fast as the cars. Still, I didn’t feel that great, perhaps it was the three hours inhaling exhaust fumes. So I decided to take the easier route through La Vella instead of going over a mountain ridge directly to La Massana. Not the greatest choice. Physically it was easier, but city traffic is always mentally exhausting. When I arrived at La Massana and the main traffic subsided, I was glad.

Passing the first downhill bike shops towards I rode towards Vallnord amd turned up to Pal at the Commencal HQ. The Port de Cabús waited at 2300 m.

The ride up was quiet and almost free of traffic with a great view most of the time. Up at the top, I went on the first real offroad downhill, a very rough forest track. After half an hour (overtaking two tourist off-road experience jeeps) the track turned into a concrete road that led through a beautiful narrow valley for another half hour. Definitely worth a recommendation! At the end I rode another 12 km downstream to Llavorsi and pitched my tent on the municipal campground to blue skies.
