A quick 7 km / 700 hm uphill in the morning works better than any coffee 🙂

I went up the Col de Peyresourde not by the new main road but turned off half way up to take the old road via Peyragudes (supposedly also a pass, but not well marked). With the weather fairly sunny, both ascent and descent were very enjoyable.

The Col du Portillon then led me back to Spain, albeit briefly for a nice downhill and not so nice ride on the main road back to France. Going downstream with the Garonne river it was quick enough, though.

When I turned off the main road up towards the Col du Menté I knew this would be the hardest pass of the day. The small, less marked passes are mostly steeper and this one was another 800 m ascent. I made my camp just below the top in the forest.
