Hiking in the northern mountains from Tengueste to Cruz del Carmen and Punta del Hidalgo. A great 20 km walk, which I maybe did in the wrong direction.

The start from Tengueste was good, a 300 m ascent with a view on distant Teide. Then followed a basically flat walk along a ridge through the cool forest to Cruz del Carmen. So far so good, but now I was up at 900 meters and needed to get down to sea level. My poor knees …

The landscape is great, though, changing from deep forest to colourful stone desert towards the sea. The path is well marked this time and I frequently meet other hikers.
