With huge dark clouds over the mountains of the Jura, I decide to stay in the valley and ride along the rim. Small villages and hilly terrain are the only sights I see, because clouds hide both the mountains in the East and the flatlands in the West.

Shortly after Lons-le-Saunier the cloud cover opens up and I get my first rays of sunshine. Shortly afterwards a dark cloud passes and it starts raining continuously for an hour.
The evening is sunny, though, and the warmth is a welcome change to the morning’s 12 degrees.

As I make camp in a forest at the edge of the Jura, the sound of the highway in the far distance is by far drowned out by the bulls roaring on the nearby meadows.
