Just before daybreak a 20 minute burst of rain gets me in the right mood for the day. It’s what we call ‘April weather’ at home with short showers and sun in between all day. Putting my raingear on and off again is annoying but low temperatures make it necessary.

The only noteworthy town is Mur de Barrez, a well-preserved small medieval town that once belonged to Monaco.

Apart from that, I arrive in the Auvergne at the Col de Curebourse and am deeply disappointed that the first shop I see doesn’t sell wine and/or coals.
