Today turns out to be a quite tedious day and almost boring. I’m riding out of the mountains and into a seemingly endless series of hills beyond, a constant up and down and even the flat sections are never really flat. What is soon flat again, though, is my rear tire. I really only have to look at sharp things. Well I’m well practiced at patching holes now.

All the roads a quiet. I also notice that I’m now riding at a lower altitude as the air is getting hot. Were it not for the constant wind, it would be hardly bearable. But the wind is there and it is a hard headwind for almost all of the way, making the day less relaxing and more tedious.

Highlights today are seeing interesting rock formations, a creative junk yard, the castle above Jumilla and how small some wine plants are around here. I also cross over from the Castilla – La Mancha region into Murcia. And finally I have another flat. This tire is really at the end of its lifetime.

Tomorrow I’ll be heading towards the Mediterranean and the end of my journey.
