Today I do some transferring by train, as I don’t quite have enough time to ride back all the way. From Bedoin I ride back towards the Rhone, to Orange. The strong headwind is neutralised by the noticeable decline of the small roads until I join the Via Venaissia, another cycleway built on an old railroad track (fantastic as always). In Orange I stock up on groceries for the trip and board the train to Lyon.

Once there, I have a stayover of 90 minutes and use the time to visit the city park, which includes the velodrome (closed) and the free zoo along some extensive rose gardens.

I take the train towards Besançon, but end the ride in Arbois, heading up the hills of the Jura again. I pick up some very muddy trails, a mountain summit and a thorny bike park descent as a good end to the day.
